2011 Internship Program

Each year, VisualResearch, Inc. provides a short-term internship to a limited number of students in an effort to develop and reinforce the practical application of research and data analysis techniques, data and information presentation strategies, writing proficiency, and/or graphic design and layout. These internships offer real-world experience, and applicants who successfully complete the program will have demonstrated an ability to complete a variety of project tasks working both independently and in small groups.

When

Three week internship fulfilled between August 1st-19th. (date subject to change)

Who

Two to four exceptional students ranging from rising high school seniors to college seniors, who have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and competency in internet searching techniques. Applicants must reside in the central Virginia region. No previous work experience in a related field is required. Those applicants chosen will work as multi-disciplinary team representing different backgrounds, including data analysis, math and science, literature and writing, art and graphic design, and computer programming in an internet environment.

Details

This internship is designed to mimic the responsibilities and duties that would be routinely carried out by a professional in the consulting field supported by VRI. Depending on the assignment, chosen applicants may be assisting in developing documents, collecting and formatting qualitative and quantitative information, or designing and laying out print or web content. VRI provides research and policy analysis for public agencies and private companies and specializes in presenting complex information in easily understood, uncluttered formats. Tasks involve helping organizations integrate text, data, and pictures into high-quality "visual thinking" displays and reports. Clients include U.S. and international governments, private, and non-profit organizations.

Schedule & Compensation

A $150 stipend will be provided to high school interns and a $250 stipend will be provided to college interns who successfully complete the program. Hours are flexible and can be adjusted to meet certain schedules. However, once the schedule is set, any violation may result in the immediate termination of the internship and no delivery of the stipend.

Contact

Inquiries or questions should be directed to Neal B. Kauder, President, VRI at 804.794.3144. An initial phone contact will determine eligibility, and an application will be sent by e-mail.
